- Thelma Riley at 70
These works are staging posts of my maturity as an artist.
I have always looked for a niche in which to use my creativity but these are works central to my individuality.
They concern the boundaries of material, space and genre, developing from exposure to Bauhaus philosophy at the Architectural Association in the 1950s.
Office work didn't suit at that time, so I switched to fine art and later followed the social component through street theatre and alternative media, until more recent work with Permaculture, (both teaching and installing "self-sustainable ecological design.")
Here, pigment grows like earth; and plants and lines wander through patterns and forms.
The step beyond expectation is always tantalising and I wait for it.
